Highly recommended

The house was beautiful and tastefully decorated, much better than the pictures show. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They picked us up, they arranged a guide, they gave us directions and even did some shopping for us.. The most amazing thing, though, was the breakfasts, probably the best we have ever had. We will definitely go back if we can.

We liked everything - the location in a quiet, secluded part of the medina; the welcome and hospitality from Laurence and Bernard; the lovely room; the terrace with great views over the medina; the breakfasts (first time we’ve ever eaten a fried goose egg !!). Superb stay.

There are Dars and then there is Dar Melody

Excellent location. Very near Rcif/Chouara tannery parking. Far from the maddening crowds of Bajloud area. On the blue tourist circuit in the Andalusian quarter. The hosts of the Riad are warm and friendly. And the breakfast is simply amazing.

Wonderful stay in Fez!

Loved our stay. The hosts made us feel like family but also giving us private space. They arranged all the activities we wanted to do while visiting Fez. Breakfasts were awesome. We would recommend Dar Melody 200%.

Lawrence and Bernard took care of us especially on our first day. They are the perfect hosts, it was

The decor in this dar is to die for! Lawrence’s a true artist, she has an eye for beauty. The breakfast spread maybe basic but it’s healthy and pretty on the eyes. Their terrace is a great hang out place, be it early in the morning or in the evening.

The climb upstairs especially if you have to bring your luggages up with you, consider it a little workout in case your missing your gym. But if you’re young and nimble, not a problem at all.

Perfect, relaxing stay

Laurence and Bernard were incredibly kind and generous hosts; they made us feel at home for our three nights at Dar Melody and it was our favorite stay for our two weeks in Morocco. The location is quiet but is a short walk from central areas, and Laurence taught us how to get to different places easily. Their home is a stunning traditional building. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The breakfasts were incredible--the best of our trip and possibly the best we've ever had. Laurence and Bernard also helped us get ready in the middle of the night for our early morning flight. I strongly recommend staying at Dar Melody!

The breakfast was great -delicious spread every morning -wide variety of fruits, breads, jam, honey ,juices ,coffee & all beautifully presented in such an amazing room. The house is a masterpiece -full of beautiful things & our bedroom superb too. Our hosts so helpful & informative. The location is great for a real experience of the Medina & easy to navigate. Terrific!!

Fez in the Medina

Accommodations and hosts very nice. In the heart of the median but quiet for sleeping

It is important that you arrange to have a driver booked by Dar Melody from your arrival at the airport or bus station. The host will meet you where the car drops you off in the Parking on edge of Medina and walk you to Dar Medina. Trying to find it on your own would be almost impossible in the Medina.

Good

Dar Melody is an absolutely gorgeous home! Located deep in the labyrinth of tiny streets in the medina, the riad door opens to the massive, multi-story central room in this beautifully renovated 300+ year old building. We stayed in the Orangee Suite, which was massive (especially compared to other places we stayed throughout Morocco) with a double bed, full sitting area with lovely authentic furnishings, and a large beautiful bathroom with double sinks. Breakfast was delicious and varied day to day, with fresh fruits, yogurts, eggs and selections of breads and jams.

The biggest negative was a confrontational experience with Bernard when my friend and I quietly left our room and tried to leave the house to get dinner one night around 11pm. He confronted us with a flashlight and loud shushing noises, angrily accusing us of making too much noise and saying we shouldn't be leaving the riad at such an hour. It was an extremely upsetting experience—especially since we tiptoed down the stairs and spoke no more than a whisper. Additionally, the idea that we weren't permitted to leave the riad after a certain hour was unsettling. This seemed out of character since Bernard and Laurence were otherwise gracious hosts, but the experience soured the stay considerably. Additionally, check in was difficult since we arrived in a rental car and were not provided clear instructions. We were only given the name of the parking lot (even after calling on the way there for more information) which led to an ordeal getting lost / stuck driving through tiny crowded streets in the medina. More explicit parking instructions would have made the arrival experience a lot easier and less stressful.
